COBB EMC SOLAR FLOWER GARDEN
Cobb EMC is looking to the next 25 years and how their facility and services will have to change to better serve their customers and community. Since alternative and renewable energy will be a large part of that transition, they took the first steps in installing solar power options such as these solar “flowers.” The solar flowers open up in the morning to receive the sun’s energy throughout the day and then close up at night to protect the solar panels.
Foresite Group provided civil engineering services for this unique project, producing the preliminary site layout and final civil designs for four solar flower installation locations. A unique challenge was locating the solar flowers on the Cobb EMC property in order to track the sun without removing too many trees.
