NEWNAN CENTRE ROUNDABOUT
SCOPE
In June 2013, The City of Newnan opened the convention center space adjacent to the Newnan Centre for Performing and Visual Arts. The community gathering facility is the latest expansion on the campus that will eventually feature a hotel and outdoor recreation. The campus master plan called for a secondary access onto Lower Fayetteville Road, but a typical intersection would not work. The City decided to build a roundabout and a new entry road west of the current access point. The project included approximately $1,000,000 of road improvements, sidewalk, landscaping, lighting, and other features needed to create a signature entrance worthy of the Newnan Centre.
Foresite Group was contracted to design the roundabout and entry road. The roadway includes sidewalks to the existing entrance, landscaping around the roundabout and within the inner circle, and two decorative brick walls that will enhance the visual impacts of the campus. Foresite Group also provided construction administration and bid services as part of its turn-key contract with the City.
