This project consisted of a two-phase master plan for Ferst Drive on the campus of Georgia Institute of Technology. For Phase I, Foresite Group completed a Master Plan for Ferst Drive between Atlantic Drive and Hemphill Avenue on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus. This plan included enlarging sidewalks, new planters, lights, bike lanes, working with existing landscaping and utilities, and reducing the width of the vehicular traffic lanes. Trolley stops were also incorporated, as well as ADA access. Challenges for the project included designing a multitude of utilities and protecting large existing oak trees. For Phase II, Foresite Group completed another master plan for Ferst Drive between State Street and Hemphill Avenue. This plan included enlarging sidewalks, new planters, lights, bike lanes, working with existing landscaping and utilities, water conservation, and reducing the width of the vehicular traffic lanes.
