ATHLETE TRAINING AND HEALTH FACILITY

SCOPE

The Athlete Training and Health Facility was designed to be a state-of-the-art sports physical therapy center, to be associated with the regional hospital. The $10 million building consists of approximately 35,000 square feet, separated between two levels. The lower level is separated to support a Physicians Group practice, while the upper level includes facilities for performance training for athletes and group fitness classes for the general public. The facility included concrete tilt wall at the perimeter of the building and interior steel framing. Transition of the tilt walls from single story to multi-story occurred as the grade transitioned from high to low at the below grade basement. Due to site conditions, belled drilled piers were required. The piers supported a combination of full height retaining walls and grade beams as the site elevations changed. A large mechanical screen enclosure was provided at the roof.
